Illustrator Tributes: Brodner and Juhasz's Odd Couples
Great illustrators think alike (or maybe it was the editor's idea.) Anyhow these came out at the same time. Steve Brodner's Odd Couple tribute on the cover on National Journal and Victor Juhasz Odd Couple tribute in Rolling Stone.

Kinky 'Merger' Covers
One of my doppelganger sources tipped me off that the kinky Bloomberg BusinessWeek merger cover had it's predecessor. The Economist did a 'sexy' merger cover in 1994. 'Get yo freak on.' Thanks to Jamey Fry for the spot.

Some Recent Citizen Kane Tributes
Village Voice cover and spread illustration by Jesse Lenz, art directed by John Dixon. Dallas Observer cover illustration by Alex Fine, art directed by Alexander Flores.
9/11 Anniversary Covers
The Village Voice cover was from Sept. 25th, 2001. (Art director: Ted Keller, Photographer: Andre Souraujon.)
Reader's Digest is using the same image for the September 2011 issue.
"We thought the Voice cover was so brilliant, so perfect, and so under-seen, that the image should be used again" said RD's creative director, Robert Newman.
Also included a few more 9/11 covers with a similar feel.
Thanks to BN for the covers and info.

Greek Doppelgangers Galore!!
I came across this blog today. It has a ton of tributes, ripoffs and everything in between. It's mainly Greek magazines taking off on U.S. magazines. I posted only a few.
There is a lot more on their site:

FSB & Reader's Digest Ironic Cover
FSB (Fortune Small Business) cover from May 2008 and Reader's Digest for November 2009.
Fortune Small Business specifically commissioned photographer Michael Cogliantry for the FSB cover. (The type the crook is holding was actually real and made of foam core.) Photo editor for the shoot was Katy Howe Binder.
Looks as if Reader's Digest bought secondary rights to the image and added their own type in the crook's hands.
Thanks to Scott A. Davis for the images and info.

Hirschfeld vs. Hirschfeld
If you ever wondered how classic illustrator Al Hirschfeld would illustrate today's stars, wonder no more. Matt Hirschfeld is continuing with the original Hirschfeld look. Here is a NYT piece on the artist. Interesting....
